Eyes Wide Open

open up open up

This is after a few very unsuccessful attempts to put in colored contacts. Conclusion: never buy sketchy colored contacts off of coloredcontacts.com –they are cheap and make your eyes burn and hurt like crazy. Just ask Sarah.

act here. love now.

act here. love now. I love having friends and family who travel. I love to travel. I love hearing all about their experiences in foreign lands and…well, yes, it’s true, I love receiving cool mementos from their trips and time abroad. I have beautiful jewelry from all corners of the world and a beautiful carved jewelry box from Africa to store it in. I have watercolor prints and scarves and blankets, too. Anyway, Sarah brought me this book from Ireland. You really should check out the website….www.actherelovenow.com

The book is filled with the beautiful photos that 11 student photographers took in 38 different countries over the period of 1 year. It also contains their thoughts and musings on what they saw and heard and learned through serving in so many different places. It’s a beautiful and challenging book. Thanks, S!

desert song

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

This is my prayer in the fire
In weakness, or trial, or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame

I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on it’s way
I am a conquerer and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I’ll stand

I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

All of my life in every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

This is my prayer in the harvest
Where favour and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve recieved I will sow

what friends are for

g & s

She spills coffee all the way down her white shirt? That means I purposefully dribble the dark liquid down mine, too. She’s way overdressed for the occasion and feeling awkward? Alright then I guess I’ll paint on the red lipstick to make her feel comfortable. I got a flat tire at midnight in the middle of nowhere? Just a minute and she’ll be here to keep me company in the pitch black dark of the countryside. What, I’m over analyzing again and desperately need to talk to her so I call about 50 times until she picks up? She doesn’t mind. Or what about when I make her mad? Or she does something that upsets me? We forgive because we have been forgiven. This is friendship.

fall

I absolutely love this time of year – crisp, cool autumn air with enough sunshine to warm you up. It’s jacket weather – not too cold to be outside and enjoy the great outdoors, but just chilly enough to want a light jacket. I’ve spent the last couple of days hiking and reading. It’s been pretty awesome. Definitely one of the perks of being back in Boone unexpectedly – getting to enjoy my favorite season! I’m looking forward to pumpkin bread, hearty stews, apple cider and warm sweaters and boots!
